Eva's Story

I had an abortion four weeks ago, and I'm not sorry. My fiance and I love each other very much-- we are getting married in a month. I have always been on the Pill and when it failed, I was both surprised and upset. We both had discussed the possibility of an accidental pregnancy before, and agreed that we are not ready at this time in our lives and that our choice would be to not have a child. Add to that the stress of our upcoming wedding, buying a house, deaths in the family and my fiancé’s serious illness, and it was just not possible for us to also try and prepare for a baby at the same time.

So, I went to Planned Parenthood after much serious thinking and talking it over, and I had a vacuum extraction. I was about 6 weeks pregnant. The procedure itself was not fun, but it was over quickly and I recovered easily.

We do want children someday. In fact I made him promise me that next time I become pregnant, we will keep the child. I would not want to go through this again. After we are married and settled down, we will make room in our lives for children someday.
